Defence statement released in Israeli GPL test (Linux.com)
Linux.com reports
that the GPL is being tested in Israeli court. "The defence in the
Jin vs. Ichessu case, in which the GNU General Public License (GPL) is
being tested in Israeli court, has filed a detailed defence, which moves
the lawsuit from the fast-track short proceedings option into a regular
court, where arguments are longer and possible settlements are
unlimited. More importantly for the free and open source software
community, the case now seems to hinge either on interpretations of the GPL
or whether the GPL is valid under Israeli copyright law."

He's been "Anonymous" on Groklaw a few times, also Posted Apr 4, 2007 5:34 UTC (Wed) by pr1268 (subscriber, #24648) [Link] Linus signed in as "Anonymous" a number of times during that nasty GPLv3 debate he had with PJ (and others) on Groklaw.net (here's an example thread). I think it's more about laziness at not wanting to sign in or create an account. I don't mean that as criticism; in fact, I just assume save the keystrokes myself given an opportunity to post my thoughts without having to go through the hassle. At least he "signed" his name at the bottom of this posting (like he always does on the LKML).

PJ is used to having people show up regularly to have dogma preached unto them. And it's hard for her to deliver a proper sermon when God himself shows up to say she's full of it. ;-)
It's always nice to see PJ's ego (second only to ESR's in this community, IMHO) deflated a bit.

On the other hand Linus itself never tried to occupy God's place (unlike RMS or PJ)...

By "God" I mean someone who's claim to fame is actually creating and licensing a lot of OSS code, and not just commenting on others that do.
I agree that Linus absolutely does not want the job of God. But when deep in the territory of the cult of PJ, and carrying an unpopular opinion, one ends up needing to shout pretty loudly to be heard.
I know because I've been there. PJ ended up accusing me of being on Novell's payroll as an astroturfer and her troops were eager to believe it.
That was when I decided that it really wasn't worth the bother to visit the site, and the Groklaw domains are in my adblock plus list now.

Bugmenot doesn't solve the problem that every bugzilla wants me to create an an account just to send them a bug. Look bugzilla authors, it's likely this will be the ONLY bug I ever submit to the project. I want to *not* have an account. But but but the incorrect bugzilla authors say, we need a way to find out whe sent it and ask for more information. Oh, I say, you mean like an email address?
