I'm surprised OLPC wasn't mentioned. It is a very Free piece of hardware, excluding the non-free wireless firmware, which will hopefully change. I saw OLPC more among the laptops, which are a very large and complex area. It was my fear that trying to incorporate them would have made the article too long. But yes, the OLPC is a very interesting project.
