Hugin would probably make a good section worth of articles. The Hugin toolchain includes autopano-sift, panotools and enblend. Autopano-sift is probably one of the most useful applications written in Mono/C#. Panotools is a suite of code that because it is GPL'ed has been able to live on in spite of software patents. Hugin and enblend have been able to thrive because the developers are panoramic nuts themselves and seriously need to scratch the itch.

Yes, hugin and others are worthy of a number of articles to show just a few basic usage patterns. Here's one I scratched together, sport sequence panoramas:

i now find myself taking 25% overlap pictures all the time. HELP!!!
