Parent article: BackTrack v.2.0 released

One wee comment for their future press releases (I realize this was to a list, but it becomes a "press release" everytime a FLOSS project releases a major version) - next time include a quick blurb on the project - what is BackTrack?

(yes, I could go an look it up, and will - but many readers won't. Make it easy for them!)

"... BackTrack is a Slackware-based live CD distribution aimed at..."

I don't see that anywhere in the release.

It isn't in the release, it's in the LWN headline article itself.

I think his point is that the short description should be in the release. I agree. I'll often just drop announcements which lack such a description; if the developers cannot be bothered to add that information, I feel little obligation to go dig it out for them. For whatever reason, I chose to go a little further this time around and add that information myself.

I think "Full story" articles (at least such copy&paste ones) should include the headline, too. While we're that, may I request that you add a "Goto article" link at the top of the comment tree? Now I sometimes have to click the "... in response to" links many times before getting at the top. Thanks!

I followed the link from the LWN.net today headlines e-mail. It doesn't include the headline text, nor a link to it.

Probably the OP is in the same situation.
