=======================
* What is gnome-speech?
=======================
Gnome-speech provides a simple general API for producing text-to-speech
(TTS) output. It also provides drivers for several TTS engines, both
commercial and open source.
This release designated for GNOME 2.17/18, but also works fine on GNOME
2.16.
Why am I calling this the "Gilles Casse" release? Gilles made all the
contributions to this release, and they are all meaningful ones. The
eSpeak driver, in particular, is going to help bring speech synthesis
and Orca to a larger number of people. Way to go, Gilles! Many thanks
also to Jonathan Duddington for developing eSpeak and making it
available via a GPL license.
========================================
* What's changed for gnome-speech 0.4.8?
========================================
* Brand new driver for eSpeak (http://espeak.sourceforge.net).
Many many thanks to Gilles Casse for his contribution here!!!
* Fix for bug 321658 to allow ibmtts is unable to select/change voice
of a different language. Many many thanks to Gilles Casse for his
contribution here!!!
=====================
* Where can I get it?
