The "open source" term will take a beating

Interesting to see the prediction about "open source", as I just wrote about that.

In a nutshell, this kind of dilution of a term is completely par for the course when a concept is getting popular (I am old enough to remember how for a time everything was described as "object-oriented"), and tends to correct itself once the hype dies down.

Am I talking the Pollyanna approach? Do we need to fight for our precious Open Source Definition?

No, just call it Free software. The disingenuous suits are far too scared of going anywhere near the F word.
