Addison-Wesley Professional Launches First Book in the Addison-Wesley Professional Ruby Series
Robust and Innovative Library of Ruby Reference Material
Upper Saddle River, November 17, 2006--- Addison-Wesley Professional, the leading publisher of
quality books for software developers, today announced the launch of the first book within
the Addison-Wesley Professional Ruby Series¬: the second edition of Hal Fulton's classic
text, The Ruby Way. The series also includes several digital documents known as Short Cuts
that present succinct reads on Ruby-related topics.
Ruby is an object-oriented language, borrowing some of the best features from LISP, Smalltalk,
Perl, and other languages. Ruby On Rails is an open-source web framework thatÂs optimized
for sustainable, high productivity.
Fulton takes a Âhow-to approach to Ruby programming, providing more than 400 examples
arranged by topic, with a step-by-step presentation of one good solution per problem.
The new series meets a surge in demand for learning materials on Ruby, from programmers
undertaking Ruby grassroots projects for the first time, to web developers moving over
from older technologies such as PHP, to enterprise users basing large systems development
and integration on Ruby. Series authors are all recognized pioneers of the Ruby and Rails
community.
Obie Fernandez serves as Editor of the series, due to his experience as a senior consultant
at ThoughtWorks, leading Ruby and Rails advocacy and project delivery. Since pledging to
support Ruby on Rails in early 2005, ThoughtWorks teams have put several Rails solutions
into production for their clients, helping to solidify a world-renowned reputation.
