Did you read the third suggestion I made -- the one about supporting free
software alternatives to encourage the production of free devices? If
updating Rockbox could be prohibited with hardware DRM, manufacturers
would be able to make Rockbox effectively proprietary, and would have
basically no incentive not to do so.
Giving Rockbox the GPLv3 anti-tivoization clarification not only defends
its status as free software but has further potential to encourage at
least _someone_ to build a free device.
