UPDATED: Firefox vulnerability disclosed at ToorCon 2006
<http://mozillalinks.org/wp/2006/10/firefox-vulnerability-...>

During hacker convention ToorCon 2006, speakers Mischa Spiegelmock and
Andrew Wbeelsoi presented how a current Firefox vulnerability could be
exploited to gain control of a web visitor's computer. The example
exploits a flaw in Mozilla's JavaScript implementation. An attacker
would need to craft a specially coded web page and would take control
once an unknowingly [...]

IE More Secure Than Firefox?
<http://mozillalinks.org/wp/2006/10/ie-more-secure-than-fi...>

eWeek's John Rapoza takes on last week Symantec's announcement regarding
IE vs Firefox security.
The bottom line: it's hard to tell for sure which one is better
security-wise as it depends a lot on what you exactly you measure. I
would really like to see someone come out with a precise metric for web
browsers' [...]

Betas market share: IE 52%, Firefox 48%
<http://mozillalinks.org/wp/2006/09/betas-market-share-ie-...>

This is a special announcement for statistics freaks. French web
analyzer, Xiti Monitor has just released statistics (fr-FR) revealing
that among beta version browser users, Firefox is preferred by 48% (or
about 0.7% of all users) while the rest uses some Internet Explorer 7
beta (52% or about 1% of all users).

Microsoft on anti-phishing: We are winning
<http://mozillalinks.org/wp/2006/09/microsoft-on-anti-phis...>

IEBlog is reporting today that 3Sharp, a Microsoft partner on office
communication solutions, has just released a study commissioned by
Microsoft on browser anti-phishing tools performance. The results
concludes that Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3 anti-phishing tool leads the
bunch with an overall score of 172 points (out of possible 200). The
number comes from an [...]

Firefox 2 Release Candidate 1 is out
<http://mozillalinks.org/wp/2006/09/firefox-2-release-cand...>

Mozilla has just released the first release candidate of what will
become Firefox 2. As expected there are no notable enhancements
feature-wise here compared to Beta 2, but a lot of work has gone behind
the scenes. No doubt the main change is to some button icons and colors
as part of the visual refresh [...]

Merge Firefox Reload/Stop buttons, extensionless
<http://mozillalinks.org/wp/2006/09/merge-firefox-reloadst...>

Extensions are great but I love customizing Firefox without them. One of
my favorite extensions is Stop/Reload, a simple extension that merges
both buttons into a single one that toggles between stop and reload
intelligently. You can replicate this functionality with a simple edit
of userChrome.css file. In Windows, you can find it at: C:\Documents and
[...]

Get more from Live Bookmarks with LiveClick
<http://mozillalinks.org/wp/2006/09/get-more-fom-live-book...>

LiveClick is a very handy extension for Firefox (and happily, it works
even with current Firefox 2 nightlies) that teaches new tricks to good
old Firefox live bookmarks. It adds Open Location and View Feed options
to all live bookmarks. Open Location will open the web site you
subscribed the feed from, while View Feed shows [...]

On Firefox security
<http://mozillalinks.org/wp/2006/09/on-firefox-security/>

On a recent interview to Window Snyder, Mozilla's recently appointed
chief security officer, she has revealed that among other strategies for
tightening Firefox security they will remove any "death code" (like for
unused features) from its source code in order to reduce any attack
surface. They will also aim to implement technologies for better memory
[...]

next year.
