Vivitar and Lycoris announce Vivicam Certification in Desktop/LX
Amethyst Update 3

Vivitar and Lycoris are pleased to announce that many of Vivitar's USB
Vivicams have attained full hardware certification on the Desktop/LX
Operating System platform. With Vivitar's new line of digital cameras
being carried by retailers such as Walmart and Target, the
consumer-driven camera company has announced support for the new
Desktop/LX operating system on a variety of its new digital camera
models. Certified models enjoy simple use and support under Desktop/LX
Update 3, shipping soon from the Lycoris.com web site, retail partners,
and on PC's directly from Walmart.com.

“Desktop/LX users will be able to plug in the certified Vivitar cameras
and go - a camera icon will immediately appear,”states Joseph Cheek,
President and CTO of Lycoris. “Users will be able to view and edit
pictures and watch recorded video directly from the camera - in short,
everything they expect to be able to do with their camera. With
Desktop/LX Certified Vivitar cameras, people have an affordable option
they can trust right out of the box for capturing, processing and
sharing digital images and video.”

The new Desktop/LX Certified Vivitar digital cameras include:

Vivicam 355
Vivicam 3550
Vivicam DSC-350
Vivicam 3615
Vivicam 3620

Vivitar's certified cameras now bear the Desktop/LX Certified Logo, and
both the Vivitar.com and Lycoris.com websites will show this logo next
to each camera. Certification logos will eventually appear on the boxed
product packaging as well, where consumers can verify Desktop/LX
Certification at the retail level.

“Vivitar is committed to ensuring that our digital cameras are
compatible across all desktop platforms,” says Tom Piehn, Director of
Imaging Technologies for Vivitar. “One of our key customers, Walmart,
is leading the way with Lycoris Desktop/LX based PCs and as a
significant supplier of digital cameras to Walmart, we are putting our
new digital cameras through the Desktop/LX Certification process to
ensure maximum customer satisfaction.”

Any clue as to whether this work sits on top of gphoto2, or whether some other approach is used?
