That's 6 years. That's just shy of the time it took to go from Perl 1 to Perl 5.It's also the length of time that the Algol 68 committee took to go from concept (1963) to implementation (1969). I hope that Perl doesn't fall into the same complexity trap as Algol 68, PL/1, and Ada did, once upon a time.
