How about core 2 duo and 64 bit?

This is being posted from a Core 2 Duo machine running Debian Etch AMD64, so it's definitely possible. AMD calls their 64 bit extensions AMD64 (originally they called them x86-64), and Intel calls theirs EM64T, but they're the same as far as an end user is concerned.

ps - It's a nice machine so far - very fast. I'm still waiting for the Intel graphics drivers to make it from experimental into testing, but in the meantime the Vesa driver is limping along (I'm no gamer). Also, my wireless card no longer works (Ralink - the driver is under pretty heavy development); that's probably been the most annoying aspect of the switch.
