GNU/Linux for Christians: Kubuntu-based Ichthux Beta5 is out (LXer)
[Posted August 30, 2006 by ris]
LXer introduces
Ichthux. "Developers from the Debian, Ubuntu, and Sword Projects
have been working since 2005 on Ichthux, a GNU/Linux distribution aimed at
Christians and ministries. What initially began as a Custom Debian
Distribution project is now a Kubuntu-based project, and is progressing
nicely. The team is releasing Ichthux beta5, with an eye toward releasing
Ichthux 6.09, their first major release on 10 September."

I wondered what was Christian about Ichthux, so I clicked through some links and the answer seemed to be that it default installs some applications related to bible study. So I wonder, "Are those applications not supported by other Linux distros?" If so, why not. If not, what is the motivation for the new distro - just to install them by default??

I think it's more of a social thing. When you have something that appeals to two or more areas of common interest, the social bond becomes stronger.
