To clarify "HP and Sun-microsystems in particular":

HP because of their objections against patent clauses, and Sun because of rumours about liberating their Java platform and their quandary regarding "our CDDL" vs "NIH GPL".

No intention of diminishing the other heavy-weight's input on the GPLv3 license since I believe it's great all of them take the time and effort to ensure user freedom regarding software they distribute.
