The GPLv3 process: Public consultation and private drafting (Linux.com)

Linux.com looks at the process of drafting the GPLv3. "How is the third version of the GNU General Public License (GPLv3) being written? Considering how much the revised license and its success or failure could affect the free and open source software communities, the question is almost as important as the final content. Yet, until now, the answer has been largely unknown."

some heavy-weights have been left out for brevity in the article. I'm posting because I was wondering about the absense of HP and Sun-microsystems in particular, but fortunately, they are onboard.

To clarify "HP and Sun-microsystems in particular":

HP because of their objections against patent clauses, and Sun because of rumours about liberating their Java platform and their quandary regarding "our CDDL" vs "NIH GPL".

No intention of diminishing the other heavy-weight's input on the GPLv3 license since I believe it's great all of them take the time and effort to ensure user freedom regarding software they distribute.
