IMO all-powerful macros inside documents are a really BAD idea.
Many of the desktop security problems come from the applications that blurry the distinction between programs and data, so that one thinks that he is opening a document (or a picture or an htlm page ) and instead he is running a program.
Word-processor macro languages should be limited to manipulate only the open documents and automate editing functions.
