As discussed in http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DapperPointReleaseProcess, we'll
be producing the first point release of Dapper (to be called Ubuntu
6.06.1 LTS) very soon, probably this week; this will be built from
dapper, dapper-security, and dapper-updates, and will consist of updated
desktop, alternate, and server CD images. If you have changes you want
to get into that, please upload them as soon as possible to
dapper-security or dapper-updates as appropriate after due testing, and
mail mdz and myself for approval. As usual for updates to stable
releases, uploads should be as conservative as possible, providing
maximum benefit in terms of bugs fixed for minimal risk. CD image
preparation for this release is in progress, and testing (focused on
areas that have changed most since the release) will begin in earnest
over the next couple of days.

On the development release front, we expect to start preparing the next
milestone release of Edgy (Knot 2) late this week.

Cheers,

Upcoming Ubuntu releases (6.06.1, Knot 2)

Good plan - I'm glad they're doing this. It's nice to be able to install a machine and have it reasonably well patched from the outset, rather than having to immediately download another 400MB of updates! And it's also good that they're releasing updates of the installer, since that still had a slightly half-cooked feel to it. It's a nice installer, but it was clearly rushed in order to make it into the Dapper release, so some bug fixes would be welcome.
