Busybox is a stand-alone user-mode toolset that takes the place of the base system of a conventional Linux distribution. Most of its tools are not derived from the programs they replace. It is not a Debian derivative. It's only associated with Debian because I created it as part of the Debian installer. It subsequently attained a life of its own and might even have an installed base as large as that of conventional Linux distributions, in embedded devices where you don't see it.

Well, the summary is incorrect in saying that Busybox is a Debian derivative, but the OS on the 770 certainly is a Debian derivative.
