Eric S. Raymond leaks another
Microsoft memo. "This is an unusual Halloween memorandum in that
it's not particularly redolent of evil. It's a reactionary memo about
trying to become less reactionary, the sort of thing that gets churned out
daily by clueless corporate droids everywhere. They're tired of constantly
being caught by surprise and want to do something about it."

As seems to be the case with leaked-via-ESR memos recently, this is peppered with his own editorialising and sarcastic asides that add little and make it needlessly difficult just to read the original text.
Spelling flames? Even on Usenet they're considered immature

The spelling flames are tacky, yes.
But it's almost certainly illegal for ESR to post the memos without the commentary--I am not a lawyer, but from some of the court cases I've seen, doing so apparently kills most hope of claiming the posting is "commentary" or "scholarship". Of course, since the full text of the original memos can be extracted from his postings, I'd guess he's on awfully thin ice. But as he says in his FAQ, this does give him a somewhat dubious argument in his defense.
There's a lot of back-and-forth on these topics in the various Scientology cases. And you should definitely consult a lawyer before assuming my opinion is worth anything at all. ;-)

I have my doubts they would do anything like this, under the "Say anything you want, just get my name right" principle.
Can you imagine a long drawn out struggle against ESR? Talk about bad PR!

I don't read them for that reason. I don't want to be biased by his ideas, ESR is an alarmist (even if sometimes spot on). Besides, who knows what insights one might have by reading it with a different point of view? Just seeing his text inline gets one misdirected from what the reaction of the reader might otherwise be.
