Ohio LinuxFest registration now open
COLUMBUS, OHIO -- July 17, 2006 -- Registration is now open for the
fourth annual Ohio LinuxFest, which is being held at the Greater Columbus
Convention Center in Columbus Ohio on September 30.
The Ohio LinuxFest is a single-day event with sessions for experienced
and inexperienced Linux users, as well as an expo floor for commercial
exhibitors and non-profit Free and Open Source Software (FOSS)
projects. More than 700 people attended the LinuxFest last year, and
organizers expect an even larger turnout this year.
Registration is free for presentations, the exhibit floor, and for the
conference after-party. By popular demand, organizers are also offering
a All Conference Pass, which will help offset the cost of the LinuxFest.
The All Conference Pass is $65, and pass-holders are entitled to lunch on
the day of the conference, drink tickets for the conference after-party,
vendor swag, access to the conference suite at the Holiday Inn, and a
limited edition Ohio LinuxFest t-shirt.
The deadline for registration is Friday, September 22. Attendees can
sign up at http://ohiolinux.org/attend.html. For those attending the
LinuxFest from out of town, we have arranged a group rate through the
Holiday Inn Columbus City Center, but the number of rooms are limited and
reservations must be made before September 5 to qualify for the group
rate. See http://ohiolinux.org/attend_hotel.html for more information
on lodging.
Sponsorship opportunities for the Ohio LinuxFest are still
available. Platinum, Gold, and Silver sponsorship packages are available
for organizations that would like to participate. A limited number
of .Org sponsorships are available for non-profit organizations as
well. Each package includes space on the exhibition floor, space
in the Ohio LinuxFest Program, not to mention the opportunity to
help bolster the FOSS community in the Mid-West while spreading the
word about your organization. Sponsorship details are available at
http://ohiolinux.org/sponsor.html.
There's still time to sign up as a speaker or sponsor for this year's
Ohio LinuxFest as well. The deadline for speaker applications has been
extended to July 31, and we encourage members of the Linux and open
source community to submit a speaker application right away. We're
looking for presentations from open source developers, commercial
organizations using Linux and open source, and end users who have valuable
experience to share with other attendees. More information is available
at http://ohiolinux.org/speak.html.
LinuxFest has a friendly, community oriented format that's focused on
educating users about FOSS in a fun environment. Because few conferences
reach out to users in the Mid-West, the LinuxFest is a unique opportunity
for users to come and learn about Linux, and find out how they can
make use of Linux in their businesses and homes. Last year's LinuxFest
featured a diverse set of speakers and topics, and this year promises
to be even better.
