Description:
    Previous versions of the hal and hal-gnome packages were not
    fully compatible with the 2.6.16.x kernel packages, and thus did
    not enable the gnome-volume-manager program to show newly-mounted
    volume on the desktop.  This was because the previous versions of
    hal depended on an older kernel interface (netlink) in order to
    notice when filesystems were mounted.  In the 2.6.16.x kernels,
    this older kernel interface was removed.  All kernels which have
    been released for rPath Linux support the new mechanism (poll()
    on the /proc/mounts file) that provides this information, and the
    new version of the hal and hal-gnome packages use this new interface.
