Dock any application to the system tray (Linux.com)

Linux.com reviews KDocker and Alltray. "Wouldn't it be nice if you could dock any application, and not just those that support the docking feature, into the system tray? A simple point-and-click operation is all it takes, thanks to a couple of helpful applications called KDocker and Alltray."

What am i missing? Isn't this just a couple extra features added to minimizing the window? Seems kinda wasteful to me.

Thank you. With 4 windows available (that's how I've got it configured now)...I use 2 of them, I did run VNC for quite a while to the W2K machine of my wife, but now I just keep the 2 spares idling along just in case, I have a mental problem I guess keeping track of more than 4 terminals at one time. In the past, when at work, I ran all 4 actively. Of course 2 of them were VNC connections to NT machines, 1 was a VNC connection to a linux machine and the Sparc ran just fine in the 4th window. I admit I telneted into the other FreeBSD machine when I felt it was necessary.

Use a separate "junk" desktop?
