Another recent news item in the UK has a related and positive change in intent, if not actual legislation - copying of CDs onto PCs & media players, for personal use, will not get negative attention from the BPI (Britsh Phonographic Industry). Possibility to copy CDs to media players and home media centers is one
of the main reasons why people who buy a lot of those things buy
them. People who buy less CDs are not so concerned about ease of
listening a lot of music from a large collection of CDs...

(Alienating your best customers is not good business)
