How would Dell and HP lose out from free drivers? Surely the only people 'hurt' by free drivers would be those who sell non-free drivers separate from the graphics cards. ATI, Nvidia, Dell. HP etc are in the business of selling hardware. If anything the availability of free drivers would increase their bottom line not harm it.
