Are you seriously suggesting that if Dapper was released on April 30th, and you were still using Warty, that you'd upgrade to it immediately?
If I was the cautious type and wanted to stay with a distro for extended periods, I'd probably want to see how the new distribution faired in the wild before doing the upgrade. What if you discovered some problem in the new version that made it unusable to you? What would you do if the problem could not be addressed immediately?
If that's the case, then I'd be considering my upgrade options in advance of the end of the maintenance window. That would mean upgrading to Breezy (which I'd be able to test out before doing a full rollout, while still having security support for all my systems).
Sure Dapper is just around the corner, but it will be around next time you upgrade. If you are still using Warty, it isn't because you are after the latest and greatest software.
