Does it still steal the keyboard focus when it starts up? When I set pointer focus, I mean it! I find it easier to VNC to a Windows system and use Word than deal with a misbehaving Linux application.

Shouldn't your window manager prevent apps from doing things like that?

I'm not sure how the internals of window managers work. I'm running twm. In theory, an application shouldn't require corrective action from a window manager in order to behave correctly.

Yes, it does. For about 10 or 15 seconds shortly after starting it from a shell, moving the mouse between windows no longer selects the window. If I don't move the mouse and start typing, even if OOo doesn't start up under the pointer, everything I type goes to OOo.

Does OOo 2.0 have a splash screen? Maybe that's interacting poorly w/ twm. I googled around briefly and found ways to disable the splash screen for OOo 1.1, so you might look into that for 2.0.
