A Report from LinuxForum 2006 (Groklaw)
Groklaw has coverage
of LinuxForum 2006, in Copenhagen, Denmark. "LinuxForum runs
over two days: Friday (today) is more business-minded and Saturday is for
the geeks... er... I mean... the more technically minded. Thus, today's
program was definitely of more interest to the wider Groklaw
audience. Tomorrow will be exciting too, but only for some
Groklawians. Also, it will be harder to report, so you will have to make do
with my report from today." Day 2
coverage is also available.

Opteron can beat Power6 Posted Mar 6, 2006 18:20 UTC (Mon) by genius (guest, #19981) [Link] Power6 has 750 million transistors.
A dual-core Opteron has 233 million transistors. A quad-core can have 466 million. Add a huge cache, and Opteron is hands down the winner!

I have no idea why.

A Report from LinuxForum 2006 (Groklaw) Posted Mar 12, 2006 21:29 UTC (Sun) by stock (subscriber, #5849) [Link] inside the presentation by Andreas Pleschek from IBM recently atLinuxForum, Copenhagen its reported that another noteworthy action of IBM's part is the contract cancellation with Microsoft. That's the really significant thing and shows just how much IBM really is committed to eating their own dog food, i.e. FLOSS. The cancellation is sofar not really reported elsewhere, like in BusinessWeek, eWeek, news.com, CNN, FOX or MSNBC. THAT'S NEWS in itself. So keep your eyes focused on this one, because, as always the real news which matter, ain't reported in MainStream press. IBM dumps MS Office and Windows : http://www-5.ibm.com/nl/businessforum/presentaties/IBM_an... http://www.linuxforum.dk/2006/video/LinuxForum-20060303-1... Cheers, Robert
