It supports collaborating environment where you can meet and e.g. in realtime edit the texture of an object with gimp, and have it show up in all the other 3D clients. Somehow a live subversion for 3D, without the versioning.. ;-) I think it's actually a separate project from Blender. It also seems to be one of the most longlived projects, I think I saw it the first time in 1998, and they still have active developers.
