I got ahead of myself. From here:

But it does look like Solaris 10 has capable iSCSI initiator, so running an iSCSI target on the dom0/
wherever is possible (though not as fast as Xen's event channels for its virtual disk/net devices)

The easiest solution is to simply use a NFS root.

Not if the thing I want to play with is ZFS.
