ready to upgrade.

A wide-ranging discussion is going on over writing user-defined types
in Java and other languages.  The upshot of this is that you will be
able to make user-defined types without writing C code.

At an SFPUG meeting and later at CodeCon 2006 in San Francisco,
Meredith Patterson presented her "query by example" PostgreSQL
extension.  This method of querying by approximation is an exciting
new tool for searches and for data mining in the future.  Possibly
more importantly to Meredith, her boyfriend proposed marriage to her
at the conclusion of her presentation.
