But...we've had PPC Linux for some years now. Works great.

Windows on a Mac might be new (though hardly "good"), but Linux on a Mac is quite old news.

Yes, but Linux on an Intel-based Mac is somewhat of a new frontier.

It'll be interesting to see the EFI-based boot process, for sure.

Linux already has EFI support right ? unlike Windows XP.

Yes, but the EFI implementation on the Mactel is significantly altered from the Itanium EFI, so there is still some work that needs to be done in order to make it function.

There was an old version of NT that could run on PPC, IIRC. Could it run on Macs as well?

There was an NT for Alpha. I don't recall there being an NT for PPC, but I hardly ever used NT even on x86, so I'm not really the person to ask :)
