The only thing I can imagine is having a semi transparent xosview. Could save me some window moving from time to time. Although not as much now as I have a 16:10 display

Myself, a couple of lines of fvwm config has my procmeters at the side of the screen auto-lowering themselves below all other windows with a single keystroke, and back again with another keystroke.
You don't need translucency for this. (It would look cool, though.)
