"Linus has been hacking on this thing
for months and it's still not a BK replacement"
I take exception. Your quote uses an arbtirary amount of time (months) in a context which is meant to suggest some sort of failure or shortcoming on Linus' part. I've never read on the lkml where Linus mentioned that git had to be an _exact_ replacement for BK. Imho, Linus should should hack on it as long as he finds it interesting, if that's weeks, months, or years so be it.
"It's good enough but it's a far cry from BK."
Again, '...far cry...', very subjective. Iyho, perhaps, but imho, _free_ 'good enough' would likely be preferred to a _non-free_ 'BK' (or one of the non-free BK competitors), at least to most free (libre) software supporters.
