If your GUI breaks under windows your hoseded. Atleast with GNU/Linux there is more than one way to work around a problem or fugure out what the problem is in the first place. The other issue is when the hardware contract gets award to some othe smuck the sys admin atleast has a chance to keep the software the same. Last I checked RHEL claims to be running on 7 diffrent HW platforms. Ahhh choice. Thats what makes the U.S. so great!
