There will be an increasing number of Linux-based gadgets available. [....] Unfortunately, most of those toys will be locked down and not hackable.Is locking down GPL software in such a device compatible with the GPL? It certainly violates the spirit of the license, if not the letter. I bet GPLv3 will address this situation.
