There is a major disappointment there. They still haven't fixed a critical bug with libc and NPTL, which makes Sarge unusable with a 2.6 kernel.

Unusable in a sense that multithreaded applications may experience the bug under heavy load. Java apllications servers come to mind. That is precisely where Debian Stable should be used. The problem has been fixed in Testing, but maintaining a Debian Testing server is simply impractical. (The LD_ASSUME_KERNEL hack is also impractical, since there is no way to enforce it globally, as far as I know).

I am surprised that this issue hasn't been publicized more, let alone resolved (I saw it mentioned once here on lwn - http://lwn.net/Articles/139887/). As things stand now, we'll have to wait for the next Debian stable release, before we can use a 2.6 kernel, which, let's face it, is completely absurd.
