Hi,

Take a look at "http://kerneltrap.org/node/5743", an article about the Open
Graphics Project which sets out to have open documentation about its
hardware (registers etc) so that the FOSS can maintain graphics drivers.

I'm looking forward to supporting this project.

To LWN: if you are short of stories, how about trying a status update from Timothy Miller. The referenced Kerneltrap report is already 3 months old.

I too really wish this project produces a card I can buy.

this project seems to be somewhat dead. It seems that first they scared
of pretty much 50% of contributors by closing down (ie: developing behind
the doors, with promise to open it up later when their pockets are full
of cash) some parts of development.
So far no one has published PCI verilog code that compiles and works. No
one write VGA controler, and few other things. Their list is dead, can't
even subscribe to it. Wiki didn't change for weeks. Last time there was
something on their mailing list, it was perhaps mid-December 2005. But
without VGA controler they are unable to go anywhere. Unless plan is just
to do 3D controler, kinda like first VooDoo cards.
I would help myself, if only my verilog skills were somewhere above
"write simple controler", and perhaps even more encouraging would be to
see the results.
But of course, I would love to see/read Timothies side of the story. I
would love to get this card as well, actually the development board, that
is FPGA core with VGA bits and memory on PCI card. Just to play, and get
some more expierence in verilog.

Thanks.
