The Boston Globe on Eben Moglen

The Boston Globe reports on the work done by Free Software advocate Eben Moglen. "But why so generous? Because Moglen is one worried guy. Even though the free software movement has generated a host of major products -- the Linux operating system, the Apache Web server, the Emacs text editing system -- Moglen thinks the movement faces a struggle for survival, with scarcely a dime in its war chest. "We're a small organization running a big revolution," said Moglen, "and we have big adversaries.""

I've known the importance of the FSF for a long time but only recently
have I realised the expenses they incur in the protection of our freedoms.

After mentally comparing the importance of the things I buy to the
importance of the FSF I've decided to donate E500 (or $500) of my monthly
wages to the FSF. I'm working out a deal with my employer so that the
company makes a donation in lieu of paying me wages. This way the money
doesn't pass through the tax system unnecessarily.
