PRESS RELEASE FROM CENTREX
NOVEMBER 20, 2002

LINUXWORLD SET TO MAKE ITS UK DEBUT

LinuxWorld, the number one Linux and Open Source
solutions show, is to launch in the UK at The NEC,
Birmingham from September 3-4, 2003. The show is
already an established success in the US, Germany
and China and its arrival in the UK has been much-
awaited.

LinuxWorld is owned by IDG, the world’s largest IT
publisher, with the UK event to be managed by
Centrex under a newly-formed partnership.

Rob Scheschareg, IDG World Expo vice president of
sales, marketing and product development, said:
“Over the past four years LinuxWorld Conference &
Expo has evolved into the industry-leading Open
Source event in the United States, and we are excited
about its expansion into the UK. Linux is the fastest-
growing operating system in the world, and the UK
market is ready for a top-notch event such as
LinuxWorld, which showcases the latest developments
in Open Source technology.”

The exhibition and conference will feature the latest
technologies, products and services related to these
networks and solutions. With business use of Linux
and Open Source increasing rapidly, the conference
will be presenting the UK’s most strategic and focused
viewpoint for corporate users and the IT professional.

Centrex has appointed Brian Reffell to manage the
show, capitalising on his extensive experience in IT
exhibitions.

Reffell said: “With Linux and Open Source systems
becoming the platform of choice for a rapidly evolving
community of businesses and organisations in the UK,
the market is now ready for the UK launch. LinuxWorld
is recognised as the definitive Linux and open source
show throughout the US, Europe and Asia, and I am
looking forward to extending the success of this
established and prestige brand in the UK.”

Centrex is the exhibition organising arm of The NEC
Group and manages a varied and successful portfolio
of trade and consumer exhibitions.
