Sounds like a good thing to me - frankly, if people are going to sell me DRMd content, I'd much rather play it under an OS I can hack to get the MPEG stream out than under an OS I can't :-). It's a bit like adding support for 40-bit crypto to Navigator back in the day - it's stupid, expensive, and it doesn't work, and everyone knows it's stupid, expensive, and doesn't work.

The only reason anyone does it is to humour the content providers, who want the warm fuzzies before they release any of their precious content. We're going to win eventually, but in the meantime this may relieve those of us with the know-how of some of the pain.
