In the past 3 years I have had 3 hard disk crashes and a RAM failure causing FS damage.

I use rsync to make backups, but it's not good enough against FS corruption.
I've been pinpointed to a tool called flx (http://lkml.org/lkml/2005/11/26/7) that could help in that case.

Still I have to define a strategy that not only protects me against problems, but let me recover fast. I am back again, I haven't recovered completely my data (most of it is there) but it took me a full day and I had a good backup... I feel the pain for those not prepared!
