Indeed, it ought to be easy enough to adapt one of the Debian/kBSD libc ports to call Solarix syscalls instead. Distance from glibc is no bad thing.

Most likely anybody running a Debian GNU/Solarix system will be operating it as a server, and have no use for XMMS.
Dpkg, by contrast, isn't terribly demanding.
