Free embedded Linux training: one year after
After the first release of the free materials of its Embedded Linux
Training in October 2004, Free Electrons (http://free-electrons.com)
released a summary of the numerous improvements brought to this training
in 1 year: http://free-electrons.com/news/news.2005-10-15
A few highlights: 13 lectures or presentations (1000 pages, doubled in 1
year), 11 practical labs, a dedicated live distribution for embedded
system and kernel developers, translations to several languages.
Of course, this training targets corporate sessions which constitute its
main source of funding, but it is also meant to be used by any
individual interested in self-training. In addition, the use of the
SkyEye emulator (http://skyeye.org) allows users to practise with
cross-compiling and booting on non-PC hardware without having to
purchase expensive development boards.
Though the main target is the development of embedded systems, this
training includes a number of resources useful to regular developers and
users on the GNU/Linux and other Unix-like operating systems: Unix
command line, linux kernel and driver development, lightweight tools,
audio, multimedia, development tools... Check them out!
All kinds of contributions are welcomed by Free Electrons: corrections,
suggestions, improvements, translations as well as hyperlinks to these
resources, to increase their visibility in search engines.
