ControlTower(tm) Console Manager Now Available for Linux Platforms
BROCKTON, MA, October 11, 2005 - Carlo Gavazzi Computing Solutions is
pleased to announce the release of ControlTower Console Management System,
Version 3.L for Linux platforms, a comprehensive remote management console
for serial communications devices. ControlTower 3.L is ideal for
mission-critical applications requiring maximum uptime and minimal user
support, such as financial services, telecommunications, manufacturing,
education, ISPs, data centers, colocation facilities, and remote management
outsourcing.
ControlTower 3.L provides a reliable time and cost saving solution for
monitoring and controlling multiple devices through an RJ-45 or DB-25
interface from a central location or by remote access. It enables a single
Linux-based system to function as a common console (monitor and keyboard)
for managed devices. ControlTower 3.L is integrated into the distributions
of Mandriva, RedHat, and SuSE.
ControlTower 3.L offers breakthrough security options, error handling, and
logging features for greater customization and flexibility. ControlTower
3.L uses Pluggable Authentication Modules (PAM) to authenticate users,
giving great flexibility to systems administrators. ControlTower 3.L allows
systems administrators to configure security at the level of the individual
user. To ensure that sensitive data is not accessible over the network,
ControlTower 3.L allows remote users to exchange data with the server using
128-bit Twofish encryption. System access also can be restricted by IP
address, password, or Unix account. In addition, systems administrators are
able to create and maintain managed device configuration files in a group.
This affects where log files are stored and how the server and viewer
software are started, and greatly minimizes setup time.
ControlTower 3.L allows systems administrators to create log files of
actions and output from systems that often operate in hard to access
environments. The use of regular expression matching enables users to apply
filters against log files. The managed device system log allows for many
levels of filtering and access logging. Filters also can be set up to
trigger scripted events, such as emailing messages to administrators if
particular services go down or a machine stops responding to keep-alive
tokens.
"As a long-time user of ControlTower for Solaris, I am happy to have
ControlTower 3.L," says Felix Firenze of BSR Consulting, a beta customer of
ControlTower 3.L. "My Linux-based system now works as a common console to
manage and control my critical managed devices, ensuring me optimal uptime."
Pricing for the ControlTower 3.L software starts at $800.00. Please contact
our sales staff at 508-588-6110 for more information about pricing and
delivery.
ControlTower 3.L augments Carlo Gavazzi's console management offerings,
which include ControlTower 3.0 for Solaris.
