Outlook Express isn't used by large businesses either.

On the contrary: I have seen several large defense contractors and government agencies support Outlook Express for employees connecting remotely.
The Department of the Navy, for example, has people checking their Navy/Marine Corps Intranet email from home this way, albeit in conjunction with an ActivCard smart card reader.
