VA Software and ThoughtWorks to Launch Partnership to Help
Enterprises Accelerate Adoption of Agile Development Methodologies

Companies to Integrate SourceForge Enterprise Edition and CruiseControl

Chicago and Fremont, Calif, September 26, 2005 —VA Software
Corporation (NASDAQ: LNUX), leading provider of software, information
and community support for IT and development professionals and global
IT consultancy ThoughtWorks, Inc., today announced that the companies
will launch an alliance to jointly develop agile development
solutions for enterprise customers. The two companies will offer a
turn-key solution that integrates VA Software’s SourceForgeâ
Enterprise Edition, the leading collaborative development platform;
CruiseControl, the popular continuous integration build tool open
sourced by ThoughtWorks; and ThoughtWorks’ best practices for agile
and distributed agile development.

“We’re pleased to team with the leading platform provider for
distributed collaborative software development,” said Roy Singham,
ThoughtWorks’ founder and CEO. “With this relationship, VA Software
and ThoughtWorks can now offer clients the ability to transform their
organizations through a complete and comprehensive solution that
properly aligns business and IT. With the integration of
CruiseControl with SourceForge Enterprise Edition, including
commercial support, our software delivery and transformation best
practices and consulting services, business and IT leaders now have a
comprehensive solution to improve IT effectiveness.”

CruiseControl will be the first continuous build system integrated
into SourceForge Enterprise Edition. This solution is specifically
designed to help clients address the competing forces of improving
time to benefit, managing risk, and leveraging a globally distributed
workforce to improve both short and long-term cost effectiveness. The
primary focus is on enabling clients to deliver high value production
software in 90 to 120 days.

“VA Software is absolutely committed to integrating best-of-breed
solutions to improve the process of building software in today’s
global enterprises,” said Colin Bodell, CTO of VA Software. “The
combination of VA Software’s SourceForge and ThoughtWorks’
CruiseControl, along with its people and best practices is the ideal
solution to enable our clients to deliver better software faster.”

About CruiseControl and Benefit of Continuous Builds
CruiseControl has been available as a stand-alone project on VA
Software’s SourceForge.net® open source community site since 2001 and
continues to grow in popularity. To date, it has been downloaded more
than 100,000 times.
The practice of continuous integration represents a fundamental shift
in the process of building software. It takes integration, commonly
an infrequent and painful exercise, and makes it a simple, core part
of a developer's daily activities. Integrating continuously makes
integration a part of the natural rhythm of coding - progressing
steadily forward by taking small steps.

CruiseControl is a framework for a continuous build process. It
includes, but is not limited to, plugins for e-mail notification,
Ant, and various source control tools. A Web interface is provided to
view the details of the current and previous builds.
