Is LPI dead?

IMO, LPI was of some interests when it was supported by SuSE, but now it seems condemned to the same faith of UnitedLinux: an anti-RedHat ("anti" from a market point of view) product which is no longer of interest for the biggest member of the consortium, as Novell is moving (has moved) toward a vendor-specific certification, integrated with its own certification system, which means more added value for every stakeholder, Novell first.

It would be interesting to see if Ubuntu embraces LPI or, and I put my 2c here, they will start their own certification track.

Also 90k exams worldwide is not a big number, especially if you divide this number by 4 (LPI being composed of 4 exams).

Is there someone with a different market perception on LPI?
