Letter to Editor: Response to Florian Mueller's Release re: "Anti-IP"
It is hard to understand how one could be "against copyright" when one is relying on the Copyright Act as the defense to Blizzard lawsuit.
It's actually pretty easy: recognize the difference between copyright and the Copyright Act. Copyright is a basic principle of law. The Copyright Act is a statute that implements some degree of it. Copyright is the ability of someone to have an exclusive right to copy. The part of the Copyright Act on which the defense is based is an exception to copyright that's included in the law for balance.
A position in favor of bnetd is against copyright and for fair use.
But it's not a position against existing copyright law.
