I used to think this way, too. But then - it's a recurring theme in plenty of fairy tales: you know, one must have a courage to kiss a frog; and be rewarded with a lovely princess to the end of his days. On the other hand, the girls that promise you everything are found in ..., well, let's stop the analogy here.

PS. I might be just lucky to learn about fvwm at the time when it looked, by comparison with other contemporary WMs, THE princess even with the default config (which hardly changed since then).
