GTK+ 2.8.0 released
Seriously. It was sort of like instructional programming meets soap opera.
For years I've been too lazy to figure out how to configure GTK+. All this time I had resorted to running gnome-settings-daemon and using the GNOME control center to configure it. I don't use GNOME, so finally figuring out how to turn it off was nice.
The confusing part for me was that ~/.gtkrc-2.0 was compeletly ignored when gnome-settings-daemon was running. I had assumed that GTK+ had been completely consumed by GNOME and had to be configured from the "inside". It's nice to know it still lives on as a seperate entity.
